Stephanie started out working with tick-borne diseases in rodents and other wildlife during her undergraduate degree. For her master’s thesis, she looked at bats as reservoirs of tick-borne pathogens in Arizona. For her dissertation she will be researching different aspects of transmission dynamics for Japanese encephalitis virus in Bangladesh. Her intent is to integrate results from field sampling and lab analysis using mathematical modeling to address issues in emerging infections and ecological dynamics.
